I checked out the graphic novel rendition of Babysitters Club Book 3: The Truth About Stacey today. Oh, how the time changes!

And hadn't the price gone from, like, two dollars to ten?

Yes! I remember Stacey had something ridiculous like seventy five cents and is all up in arms because she forgot in New York movie theater concessions could ad up to A DOLLAR TWENTY FIVE OK THNX!

That would be seriously awesome. I wonder how much the ticket cost?

In Stoneybrook, the cost was ninety-five cents I'm pretty sure. I can't even fathom paying so little for a drink AND for popcorn at a movie theater, unless it was like 1960 or something. I wonder what the average cost of movie concessions was when the book was published.

When I was in college, four years ago, we had a dollar theater. And they got new movies, not old ones! But it was an eensy weensy town. I went there ALL the time (who wouldn't?!). They only had two screens, but it was awesome. The nearest big, eight dollar theaters were over twenty minutes away.

A dollar theatre? Holy crap, if we had one of those, I'd never leave. It'd sure beat the mega-expensive theatre that doesn't offer student discounts on the weekends :(

I remember having a similiar reaction to the Tab/Diet Coke switch between the book and the graphic novel. I didn't know what Tab was, and to this day haven't seen it anywhere in Northern California where I've lived my entire life. Haven't seen it anywhere else, come to think of it.

I'm OLD.

As long as the Tab wasn't old...

I've never seen Tab. I don't think it's sold around here.

Naaah it was still in date. At my old house though I found a can that had expired a few months prior that I had never drank and I put it on my shelf. But now that can is in storage.

I haven't had Tab in awhile, but I pretty much grew up drinking it (and I DO have cancer, lol...though I don't think it was really caused by aspartame). Anyway my dad loves Tab. I kind of like it, too. I still see it in some stores here in the NW. It must still be considered rare, though, because I remember drinking it in college a few times and people wondering if I had an "antique can."

...wait, you can still get Tab? That stuff pretty much ruled.

I can get it at the grocery in southeastern Pennsylvania. I've never had any desire to drink it, though (after reading the BSC, I thought it was a special drink for diabetics, since Diet Coke was around too).

My friend Brian sells it at sodafinder.com, although its a bit pricey.

There is also a website called ilovetab.com that has a short list of places where you can find it.

They sell it at Target in Michigan, too.

You can still get Tab at most grocery stores around the Baltimore, MD area... I see it a lot, and it always surprises me that it still exists lol

They have a new Tab Energy drink, by the way. It is supposed to be cherry-flavoured. I've had it before, and it was decent.

the cherry is definitely in question, but it tastes good none the less!

In the UK edition, which was released in 1998, it also says "Diet Coke" and not "Tab." But then again, I don't think Tab is available in the UK, hence the change in the name.

Oh, and she just says "A small diet coke and a small popcorn, please," no mention of butter as over here we usually have sugar or salt on our popcorn.

It's interesting how books change depending on the time and place that they were published.
